Network Configuration Specifics
249
In a Cisco based environment the recommended settings are:
Voice Packets: DSCP: 46, 802.1p:5
Signalling Packets: DSCP: 26, 802.1p:3 *(see note, below)
Other Packets: DSCP:0 802.1p:0
* Note: Newer Cisco installations will support DSCP 24 especially if Autqos is used. Older Cisco
installations may be configured for DSCP 26. Check the network to determine which is active.
In either case it is recommended that both DSCP 24 and DSCP 26 are assigned to the same
priority queues in the network equipment.
Port Settings
The 3300 ICP is basically a voice server. The network port should be set accordingly, and is
required to provide the following functions:
Adding 802.1 Q-Tagging and priority (COS) to incoming data (ingress)
Remove 802.1 Q-Tagging and priority (COS) to outgoing data (egress)
Provide access to a single fixed VLAN
A typical port configuration example for the 3300 ICP is shown:
Switch# configure terminal
Switch(config)# interface fastethernet0/1
Switch(config-if)# switchport mode access
Switch(config-if)# switchport access vlan 2
Switch(config-if)# mls qos trust cos
Switch(config-if)# mls qos cos 5
Switch(config-if)# wrr-queue cos-map 4 5
Switch(config-if)# priority-queue out
Switch(config-if)# spanning-tree portfast trunk
Switch(config-if)# end
Switch#
3300 ICP multiple network connections
Multiple connections for network resiliency can be made from the 3300 ICP. In this situation,
Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) or Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) must be enabled on
the Ethernet switch ports and Spanning Tree Protocol enabled on the 3300 ICP. All ports must
