Gigabit Ethernet Phone Stand
The Gigabit Ethernet Phone Stand allows a 5200/5300 series IP phone to be interfaced to a
Gigabit Ethernet LAN. Details on the Gigabit Ethernet Phone Stand can be found in the Gigabit
Ethernet Stand Installation Guide and in the Mitel Wireless LAN Stand Configuration and
Engineering Guidelines on Mitel Online.
1000 Base-T or Gigabit Ethernet must be run on Category 5 or better cabling plant. It is
recommended that the cabling plant be tested/certified for Gigabit Ethernet operation. This is
particularly important in cases where Gigabit Ethernet equipment is being deployed into an
existing 100 Base-T Category 5 network.
Category 3 cabling plant cannot be used for Gigabit Ethernet.
Power Restrictions
For IP Phones with the following Mitel accessories installed, the additional power required by
the Gigabit Ethernet Stand can result in the total power exceeding the limits of 802.3af powering.
5330, 5340, and 5324 IP Phones with a Conference Unit Module and the Mitel Conference
Unit it connects to must use a power adapter that is sold separately and connects directly
to this stand.
5220, 5224, and 5324 IP Phones with a PKM module and the PKMs it connects to must
use a power adapter that is sold separately and connects directly to the Stand.
The Side Control Unit used to connect a Mitel Conference Unit to a 5220/ 5224 will still
need its own 24Vdc power supply and should be connected to the IP Phone as usual. It
also requires that the phone and stand be powered using a power adapter that is sold
separately and connects directly to this Stand.
5330 and 5340 IP Phones that have a cordless handset and/or headset installed must use
a power adapter that is sold separately and connects to this stand.
IEEE 802.11 b/g Wireless LAN Phone Stand
The WLAN Phone Stand can operate as an IEEE 802.11b/g Wi-Fi client when used with
5200/5300 series IP phones. The stand connects to the IP phone via a wired 10/100 Base-T
connection. The stand provides a Wi-Fi LAN interface to a Wi-Fi LAN.
The Wireless LAN phone stand operates with any version of 3300 ICP system software.
The WLAN Phone Stand can also operate as an IEEE 802.11b/g Wi-Fi access point by bridging
from the Wi-Fi interface to a wired 10/100 Base-T interface.
Details on the WLAN Phone Stand can be found in the Wireless LAN Stand Installation Guide
and in the Mitel Wireless LAN Stand Configuration and Engineering Guidelines on Mitel Online.
